In HIS Refuge

"You who sit down in the High God's presence, spend the night in Shaddai's shadow, Say this: "God, you're my refuge. I trust in you and I'm safe!" That's right-he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you-under them you're perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm. Fear nothing-not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day. Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon. Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will even graze you. You'll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, watch the wicked turn into corpses. Yes, God's your refuge, the High God your very own home, Evil can't get close to you, harm can't get through the door. He ordered His angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they'll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling. You'll walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path." Psalm 91:1-13 The Message

Walk with God! Do "not" give in to fear!

Remember: The battle belongs to the Lord! He has prepared a way for each of us. He sends His angels to guard us. I wonder how many times I have been rescued from harm and did not realize it? Let us keep our eyes wide open and firmly focused on our Heavenly Father!

In HIS refuge,

Andrea

  13. "I wonder how many times I have been rescued from harm and did not realize it?" I've wondered that before, too. Thankful for the truth of this post.

I'm pretty tempted to go take my dumb post for today down. I think I thought I missed t.v. all those months. But you know, I don't think I really did. I'd much rather focus on Jesus.

  14. I love this chapter, Andrea; thanks for sharing it.

I say this every morning when I make my bed.

I've often thought that when we get to Heaven, God may allow us to see all the times he protected us without our knowing. He is so sweet.

    Love you,

  26. Do you remember the old Amy Grant song - Angels Watchin' Over Me.....???? Reminds me about your wondering how many times we've been protected....

Gotta love The Message! Such a vibrant translation/paraphrase (I never can remember what it actually is.)

  27. This is a beautiful Psalm. It's the Psalm that our son who is in the army has chosen as his special passage, so it means even more to me when I read it.

  28. I agree with you totally. You can always look back and see how He helped you or took care of you when you did not even realize it. And how His angels are always lifting us up when we fall. Thanks for stopping by my random!

  30. Good question; I too bet that God has rescued me many times when I've not even realized it. May we live in an awareness of His presence and His work in our lives.

  32. Hello Andrea........ and yes it is just fine that you have me linked here.. Thank you for the honor... I love my blog friends and love when my list expands..

I have looked back on my life and I see God everywhere.. Throughout the years long before I even knew HE was watching.. His hand of protection has been a constant in my life and now being a follower of Christ I look for HIS hand in the future and not always having to wait to look backward...

    Have a God filled Thursday...

  33. Excellent. I like that passage and the Message. M. Scott Peck, a psychiatrist, has even written that all of us are probably rescued many times by God when we don't even realize it. He calls that grace. I agree! Good post.

I love Psalm 91 and that is what my blog header is. As I read each word I became more and more peaceful and content...I stand firmly planted deeply within this Psalm and I do take refuge in Him and in every word of it. Thank you for posting this here especially today as I read it this night on the edge of my sister's surgery tomorrow morning. I'm going to e-mail her this...why didn't I think to do that before...God led me here Dearest Andrea and I thank Him for that.

I love you my close sister, friend and prayer warrior...I truly do.

  47. Very true!!! I know there have been times when I was running late and when I finally get on the road, there's a terrible accident blocking it. That's God working his magic.

We're getting all that messy weather too! I'm so ready for spring...

  48. What a wonderful reminder of Who is in control. I don't consider myself a person who "fears" and yet as an older parent with young children still in the home, I do find I sometimes worry a little about possible health issues. Thank you for this wonderful reminder Andrea.
