Use Your Words

Lately, I keep hearing the phrase "Use Your Words." I have a deep appreciation for words and I quite enjoy using them. "Use Your Words" is a powerful phrase. Expression of emotion is good for the soul. Our hearts need to purge both the pain and the happiness.

Now, for the tricky part. I need to "use my words" and not injure others in the process. My grandmother Bowling longed for each of her children, grandchildren, and all future generations to be educated and intelligent human beings. This was her desire above all else and at all costs. Because of a challenging childhood and difficulties in relationships she often expressed herself in less than loving ways. Her intent great, yet somehow it became diminished or shadowed by the execution process.

Recently, I stumbled upon the truth or at least a nugget of truth about grandmother and how she felt. Grandmother wrote: "My boys are the best thing that's ever happened in my life." My uncles and others in my family may be less than happy I've chosen to write about this or share grandmothers words. I, however find it healing. Healing not in the warm and gushy kind of way, but healing through knowledge of the love that lived deep inside of her injured and hardened heart. She loved her sons and she loved the rest of us.

For me, it's time to examine and re-examine how I "use my words." Sometimes, I use them wisely and in  a loving way and other times like grandmother I injure those along the path of this life. I must forgive grandmother for those times when her words hurt and I pray others will forgive me when I do not choose my words wisely.

By HIS mercy and in the grip of HIS grace,

Love

Challenge
Is often needed for love
For courage to love
For courage to speak up when you love!

The above poem was written in the heart of a young, thirteen year old girl known to most as Andee. She found herself growing up in a world without the security she once knew. Her grandmother, Marie Coates died September 27, 1979 after an extremely painful journey with Cancer.

God is faithful to heal and restore the hearts of all who are willing. The little girl known as Andee is now grown and sharing a special relationship with her own granddaughter. I am that little girl!!

As I gaze into the eyes of my precious granddaughter, Savannah I think of my Nana and realize the gift God has given me. My Nana taught me how to be a Nana, giving me courage to love and speak up when I love.

In the grip of HIS grace,

Andrea

* I pray each of you who travel by are doing well. I will be away from the computer and with a dear friend whose husband died, today. Thank you for your prayers, love and encouragement as I share GOD'S love with others!

Wedding

Lauren and Joe with Pastor Joe as he reads from Ruth.

Savannah and Nathaniel (ring barrior and flower girl). They are instant friends!

The wedding was quite a success. GOD was at work at every turn. He is in complete control. He has once again filled our lives with many miracles and we praise HIM on this Lord's day.

Doug and I thank you for your prayers and support. We are greatful to have "God" family who will storm the heavens with us.

"....every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good." Romans 8:28 The Message

Blessing and a heart full of love,

Andrea, Doug and The Perdue Zoo

*I will share more of GODs love through our wedding journey in the coming days and weeks. Please be patient with me. I will be busy cleaning the facility where the reception was held the next few days and spending time with out of town family and friends. I love you all and can hardly wait to share the beauty of GOD's gift to us with each of you.

My Story In God's Psalm

[I give all the credit, God-you got me out of that mess, you didn't let my foes gloat. God, my God, I yelled for help and you put me together. God, you pulled me out of the grave, gave me another chance at life when I was down-and-out. All you saints! Sing your hearts out to God! Thank Him to His face! He gets angry once in a while, but across a lifetime there is only love. The nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter. When things were going great I crowed, "I've got it made. I'm God's favorite. He made me king of the mountain." Then you looked the other way and I fell to pieces. I called out to you, God; I laid my case before you: "Can you sell me for a profit when I am dead? auction me off at a cemetery yard sale? When I'm 'dust to dust' my songs and stories of you want sell. So listen! and be kind! Help me out of this!" You did it: you changed wild lament into whirling dance; You ripped off my black mourning band and decked me with wildflowers. I'm about to burst with song; I can't keep quiet about you. God, my God, I can't thank you enough.] Psalm 30:1-12 The Message

There are no other words adequate to describe the feelings in my heart. My journey has been long and often difficult, yet my Heavenly Father has always put the pieces back together again. I can not thank Him enough. I continually stand amazed as He valiantly stands against my earthly foes, some of whom profess to be Christians.

Today, He poured out rivers of love in a barren pathway. He paved my path with peace and strength. My day was long, my body weak, my soul complete!

Soaking in HIS presence,

Andrea

Lily Among Thistles

"I am the spring crocus blooming on the Sharon Plain, the lily of the valley. Like a lily among thistles is my darling among young women." Song of Songs 2:1-2

These tender verses from GOD's word speak volumes to each of us. The young girl did not feel as though she was special in any way. She referred to herself as common by comparing herself to flowers that grow all over Israel. Solomon disagreed saying, "lily among thistles." Solomon obviously felt no one compared to her.

God gave us eyes for the person He chose to be our spouse. Today, I am reminded how important it is for me to tell the one I love how special he is to me. I am thankful for his gentle spirit and his loving heart. I praise GOD for bringing him into my life.

When was the last time you shared your heart with the one you love? Begin again today and bless that special someone with the words most tenderly heard from your lips.

With a tender heart,

Andrea

Living The Quiet Life

"Make it your goal to live the quiet life, minding your own business and working with your own hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are NOT Christian's will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others."
1Thessalonians 4:11-12

Recently, I have been contemplating returning to secular work, however GOD in His infinite wisdom has been gently nudging....well, truthfully "shoving" me into a larger ministry of writing and speaking. Daily, I would allow the secular thoughts to creep in.

Yesterday, I went to the hairdresser to have color put on my hair. The facility was a buzz with chatty women portraying themselves as Christian's, yet their words hurt my heart. The distraction of those words became intensely loud, yet the still small voice inside me was able to overcome the roaring lions on the outside.

GOD brought me to a quiet place of writing; HE graciously gave me a writers nook within my home and a husband who is thrilled with the adventure GOD set before me. I am able to work in my pj's and soak daily in GOD's word; what more could I ask?

I tremble when I think of how easy I am tempted to do things my way. Today, I thank GOD for giving me "the quiet life" and lovingly directing and redirecting my path.

Soaking in my Heavenly Fathers peace, love, and restoration,

Andrea

Season Of Blessings

"The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come, and the cooing of turtledoves fills the air. The fig trees are forming young fruit, and the fragrant grapevines are blossoming. Rise up, my darling! Come away with me, my fair one!" Song of Songs 2:12-13

What an awesome creation GOD created; He has given us beautiful nature and beautiful love to share with the one He created us to travel life's journey with. God intended for each of us to stop running chaotically to and fro and enjoy the blessings He has given us.

Do not allow the state of our economy, fear, gossip, or any conflict to distract you from the world GOD created for you to enjoy. Most importantly, do not allow these things to come between you and the one GOD created you to partner with.

Enjoying the season of blessings,

Andrea

Help Me, I'm Scared!!

God made each of us unique. Some of us love snow and some of us prefer the security of warm weather. There are also those of us who love both the beautiful ocean and as summer closes we can not wait until the first snow covers the ground. I am one who cherishes every aspect of God's creation. My heart leaps at the thought of tiptoeing through the warm sand, yet I eagerly dream of the cold winter day when GOD in all His glory spills forth snow from the heavens and surrounds me in a peaceful winter wonderland.

Sharing GODS creation is exhilarating and exciting. God graced us with a beautiful winter wonderland this week. Each of us celebrated His creation in our own unique way. My furry children are no different; three of them loved the snow, yet my 15 year old Cocker Spaniel, Macy said, "Please Mom....get me out of this stuff and let me back inside." My human children gathered their parka's gloves, boots, and raced to the garage to get the sled. They were eager to share this beautiful and amazing snow with our 20 month old granddaughter, Savannah.

Excited to see Savannah as she partook of her first snow, I grabbed my gear and raced outside to find a little girl unsure of her surroundings. From the windows of our home she had watched the snow fall with amazement saying, "WOW" over and over again. Savannah's "WOW" disappeared when she was placed in the snow. She was unsure of her footing and definitely not interested in being pulled around on a big red sled.

I wondered how many of us admire with amazement GODS gifts until they are given to us. We then become unsure and afraid. Can we do this? Are we really on the right track? How can we be sure?

When faced with fear, Savannah lifted her arms toward those she loves and trusts. She knew where to find safety, security, and love. With eyes filling with tears, her little arms reached toward the heavens past her earthly security.

Today, Savannah and I encourage you to seek your Heavenly Father when you are unsure, scared, or faced with uncertainty.

"Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

"Love"

Love is a single flower...
Blooming through your life...
Love is a tower...
Tilting to one side...

From beginning to end...
Love is the same...
Often we pretend...
To love our own name...

Tomorrow, Today...
We often see change...
Lingering on...
In many a way...

Yet...
The best of love...
Far better than best...
Coming from above...
Unlike the rest...

I wrote this poem in 1982 at age 16 years old. As I ponder the twists and turns my journey through life has taken me the constant has always been my Lord. Needless to say, my journey like many others has not been easy, nor have I always made the best or correct decisions. Yet through each valley and bend in the road I came to a place of peace, hope, love and satisfaction.

God has been ever faithful to meet me in the midst of any and ever aspect of my life. Never once has he abandoned me. At the end of each day, I surrender myself to Him knowing He loves me and will never leave me.

Early this morning, I awoke sensing I needed to share this simple message. I suppose in the quite of the morning I realized there may be someone who has never known or felt this unconditional love. It is my prayer God will touch your heart in a way like never before giving you the gift he gave me so very long ago. He loves you and longs for you to no longer carry your load alone.

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer." Psalm 19:14

"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

The Ultimate Valentine

My "Ultimate" Valentine.

He loves me unconditionally.
He never abandons me.
He meets all of my needs.
He desires only the best for me.
He gives me the very best from his possessions.
He always knows the desires of my heart.
He is perfect!

By now I am quite sure I have your attention. No, I did not find the only perfect man this side of heaven, however as humans go I must say I came pretty close. My husband, Doug is a wonderful man, but it is not humanly possible for him to satisfy the qualities of the "Ultimate Valentine."

The only one who is able to meet all my needs, wants, and desires is the "lover of my soul...Jesus Christ!" As we celebrate this Valentines Day, lets remember the reason for the season, Jesus! He gave the ultimate gift of love!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"...for we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with love." Romans 5:5

May GOD bless each of you as you celebrate Valentines Day with the special people in your lives.

By His mercy and in the grip of HIS grace,

Andrea
