On Saturday, Doug visited our local farmers market. Among his purchased treasures were "real" tomatoes. I refer to tomatoes in two different categories, real and fake or wannabe tomatoes! Both real and fake tomatoes look beautiful on the outside, but when you bite into them there is a vast difference. The real tomato is not only beautiful, but has a flavor unlike anything else in the vegetable world. It simply dances across ones palate, enhancing every other food in its presence.
Let us strive to "be real" and enhance the flavor of every situation in life. Let us not only look beautiful, but "be beautiful!"

Oh, that the inner person were as delectable as the outward appearance. Or something like that. "Real" tomatoes are just starting to come in here!
Anyway, I love "real" tomatoes and I liked your analogy.
Andrea, I came back to give you a (((((((((Andrea))))))))) as I know you need it!!
We just tried to buy an organic tomato here and it was $3.00 for one...needless to say we passed it by.....sad how our food now needs to be described between real and fake, but it is true. Love your analogy....
Hi Andrea,
This is such a great analogy. My Mom grew a few tomatoes this year. Her first attempt. They were so small, but the taste was amazing.
I hope I can be like that little tomato. The real thing!
((((Andrea)))
Blessings,
Tammy
Just picking and eating my own tomatoes from my garden, I can totally vouch for this. They were so yummy and real!
Thanks for this post!
Hugs,
Mimi
I love "real" tomatoes but I have to admit I have only had them a couple times. Great analogy!
Hi Andrea,
What a good analogy. I don't think there's anything worse than a nice-looking tomato with no taste! We buy ours from a roadside stand and the difference is incredible.
Trying to keep it real, too!
I'm very happy you have some real tomaotes. I know you have been wanting some.
This post is one that I will share with others because it's that important.
Amen!
Growing tomatoes and keeping it real, here in SW Virginia! :-)
Prayers and hugs for you this day, Andrea.
Exactly! The appearances don't matter in tomatoes OR people, despite our culture's obsession with the surface!
Powerful and timely word.
So true! Makes me think of the vessels that had cracks in them that were "filled"--they were not sincere....just wannabe's (in your own words) :) I Tim. 1:5- "The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith."
Amen! Make me real Lord, make me real with Your touch and love!
AMEN, Andrea!!
Blessings~

I absolutely love "REAL" tomatoes!! You are exactily right about real ones and fake one. Love how you related it to our lives being real!!
Love and Blessings
I know what you mean about the difference between real and hothouse tomatoes -- there is no competition there. And I love the metaphor applied to life and people, too!
Oh so true Andrea! Real tomatoes and real people are the best! I am waiting for my green one's to turn red, I love them!
Love Di ♥
What a great comparison!
Tomatoes needn't worry about their shapes or tastes;that's the dilemma of the human. Just be your real self!
I love this! I hope I am dancing across the Lord's palate to make Him happy today!
Love you,
Jen
We just got our first two tomatoes from our garden and they were delicious. I trust my spiritual growth is as pleasant to our Father.
Amen to your timely comparison...
Real tomatoes...really good...right off the vine with nothing else...juices running down your chin...
Real people...really good...connected to the Vine with no pretenses...Holy Spirit running all over the place....
Really enjoyed this post sis.
I learn a lot from fruit and other things from my garden. I agree with you, I want to be real.
Thank you for being beautiful.
Love,
Tiffany
I'm growing me some "real" tomatoes - I hope!! My first ones in years!
Just thinking of you! Hugs and prayers,
Charlotte
That is a wonderful example!
Oh, you are so right about those tomatoes. I'm an Ohio girl and my dad grew tomatoes all the time. They smell good and one taste puts me into extasy. There simply is no other natural taste so satisfying.
About beauty on the inside and out, I also agree.
I absolutely "know" a real from a fake tomato. One bite and the truth reveals itself. Recovery has helped me become more REAL.

Give me the real over the hot-house any day! The former are healthier and tastier, while the latter are bland and, likely, pesticide laden.
Blessings,
Kathleen
Hi Andrea,
Wow, I am finally able to post..... it's been hard to post on your blog. I have tried to leave you comments on the last two posts; I came more than once. I am wandering if a gadget code is doing this to your blog.....
I loved your last pictures, and yes, we must be real. I love fresh tomatoes from the garden, not the hot house.
((((hugs))))
(((Andrea))) Much love and prayers for you my friend. Blessings, Audrey
I understand that analogy perfectly. I love it.
I wish I didn't have to drive miles for real tomatoes... the problem with city living.
Blessings to you,
Lyn
Good Morning Andrea Sweetie...
What a beautiful share today. I use the same verbage for tomatoes. The real ones have a smell that is so country you feel the dirt beneath your feet. So much meatier when you cut them open.
My fondest memories are running up and down the garden rows picking the bright red tomatoes from the stems and smelling their sweetness. When we picked the cherry tomatoes there was no control for me. I ate more than I picked. Love this memory.
Thank you for taking me to a happy place in my mind this morning. Hope you have a wonderful and blessed day today sweet friend.
Many hugs and so much love, Sherry
Love this.....

Very cool analogy. I like it. :) Reminds us to be real in our faith.
So true! Thanks for sharing.
Came by to give you another hug. ((((Andrea))))
