What Does This Picture and Passage Say To You?

" 1 “At this my heart pounds
   and leaps from its place.
2 Listen! Listen to the roar of his voice,
   to the rumbling that comes from his mouth.
3 He unleashes his lightning beneath the whole heaven
   and sends it to the ends of the earth.
4 After that comes the sound of his roar;
   he thunders with his majestic voice.
When his voice resounds,
   he holds nothing back.
5 God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways;
   he does great things beyond our understanding.
6 He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’
   and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’
7 So that everyone he has made may know his work,
   he stops all people from their labor.[a]

8 The animals take cover;
   they remain in their dens.
9 The tempest comes out from its chamber,
   the cold from the driving winds.
10 The breath of God produces ice,
   and the broad waters become frozen.
11 He loads the clouds with moisture;
   he scatters his lightning through them.
12 At his direction they swirl around
   over the face of the whole earth
   to do whatever he commands them.
13 He brings the clouds to punish people,
   or to water his earth and show his love.

 14 “Listen to this, Job;
   stop and consider God’s wonders.
15 Do you know how God controls the clouds
   and makes his lightning flash?
16 Do you know how the clouds hang poised,
   those wonders of him who has perfect knowledge?
17 You who swelter in your clothes
   when the land lies hushed under the south wind,
18 can you join him in spreading out the skies,
   hard as a mirror of cast bronze?

 19 “Tell us what we should say to him;
   we cannot draw up our case because of our darkness.
20 Should he be told that I want to speak?
   Would anyone ask to be swallowed up?
21 Now no one can look at the sun,
   bright as it is in the skies
   after the wind has swept them clean.
22 Out of the north he comes in golden splendor;
   God comes in awesome majesty.
23 The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power;
   in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress.
24 Therefore, people revere him,
   for does he not have regard for all the wise in heart?[b]”"

Job 37 NIV

What does this picture and passage say to you? How is GOD speaking to you, today?

By HIS mercy and in the grip of HIS grace,

Andrea

The power and awesomeness of God is not only in the words of Job (who I can really relate to recently), but the picture. How much God is in control of everything. The bird house where the birds are not to be seen. Nestled away in safety. The road block from nature itself that He allowed. Shows just how human we are, and how powerful He is! At a moments notice He can call up the wind. He is almighty and powerful.

Great post Andrea.

It amazes me how accurately the Word of God speaks to us today, though it was written thousands of years ago. God is so good!

God is All. He is Power and Plenty. He does that which He chooses, in His time, at His will. He has mercy and compassion, yet also is angered and mighty.
God is the Maker of heaven and earth. We are His sheep who follow in obedience or choose not to.
May my heart and head always want to be obedient.
Timely Scripture and picture for me, Andrea. Thanks and loving you too, ~ linda

God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways;
he does great things beyond our understanding. ...This caught my attention because quite a few times today I've been saying.."Lord, I don't understand what Your doing, but You do...and I rest in that"...also as I read what Job's friend's were saying...I thought about God's power, what He is doing in our lives...we as human's don't comprehend at times (well most of the time)..but God IS great and all powerful and KNOWS exactly what He is doing, He IS in control...Andrea..please keep on praying. Randy has just left for the hospital to get stitches. As he was placing more plastic on Randan's back hatch (the one that the window was shattered)..the hatch closed on his thumb...

This is one of my favorite passages, Andrea! It fills me with wonder and awe, makes me feel small and reminds me how little I know.

He speaks.

Blessings.

God speaks to me in mighty shouts, and gentle whispers. He roars like a mighty river, and refreshes like a calm pool of water. His justice thunders, and His righteousness flashes like lightning. And yet, His Love shines like the warmth of sunbeams.

He is the Incomprehensible One - the Almighty God who invites me to know Him.

He is my friend...

GOD BLESS, Andrea.

(Are you feeling better?)

So thought provoking and love the challenge you brought upon our hearts!

"He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth, and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’" - - When I came here, it reminded me of God having no partiality...Snow poured down on those trees, both the green ones and the dried out ones. The problem is not always God holding His love...The problem is one's heart keeping their hearts closed to His mighty love and grace. So...they're dry and do not experience His marvelous love! All praise, honor and glory to our good Father in heaven!!! Love to you sister and may you have a wonderful week ahead, remaining strong in His power and might!

We are hunkered down, awaiting a huge winter storm, so this image and the passage really resonates with me. His power is awesome!

As C.S. Lewis wrote: "He is not safe, but he is good." Amen!

I love the book of Job, it has become one of my favorites and during times of great distress in my life the Book of Job helped me put life in perspective.Our God is an awesome God, who can really know His mind? He is the the creator of all , and mindful of us ( undeserved by us ) especially, amazing grace and mercy!
