For This Child I Prayed

"For this child, I prayed." 1 Samuel 1:27

My husband and his first wife could not have children on their own. After many medical procedures and tests, they sought adoption. GOD gave them two daughters, Robin and Lauren. They prayed, and GOD answered their prayers in a beautiful way.

The pictures today are of Lauren and her Dad. Clearly, you will see the love of an adoptive Dad for his chosen child. Biology is NOT important to my husband.

Doug has shared many times how he came to accept adoption over biology. He said, "As I studied GOD's word, I realized Jesus had an adoptive Daddy. His adoptive Dad was Joseph and if it was good enough for GOD's own son to have an adoptive earthly father it is good enough for me."

I share my husband's story of adoption in hope it will help someone who may be struggling with adoption. God clearly answered his prayer.

Amazed by HIS grace,

Andrea

Andrea -
The pictures are wonderful, but so is this story and the verse you picked. I'll always think of this verse in a new and fresh way now. Thanks.

My husband became a husband, father and grandfather all with one I do. He could not love "our" children any more if they were his biologically. Adoption in many forms is a wonderful way to make a family.

Thank you and God Bless,
Mimmy

What a lovely story! Love comes from the heart, and it really doesn't matter how your child is born. My dad loved all of us and he didn't care which of us were his by birth and which were by adoption either.

Andrea, what a wonderful post. I so appreciate you and Doug sharing your lives in order to minister to so many.

Doug is a special man and I am glad for his daughters and especially for you and the ways he has helped heal you.

Thank you for being such an incredible friend and sister of the heart.

This is really a special post. After all we are all children of God with "adopted" earthly parents. Or we are all "adopted" into God's family when we become parents.

I've never met him, but I like your husband. Great post.

It is so beautiful to hear one placing Love over Genes. It does not matter where you come from, it just matters that you are loved and accepted. I simply am in awe of those who have this much love to give, that is one of the reason I love to follow bloggers who had adopted a child as one of their own. Plus one of a totally different race. Such courage and grace. God Bless you and your family.

I believe this is the sweetest father/daughter photo I've ever seen! It's gorgeous!

It kinda looks like she doesn't want to let her daddy go, but she knows that she has to be with her husband. Wow, it's really touching.

smooches,
Larie

What a beautiful testimony of God's love, for we are also His adopted children. You can see from the picture that both your husband and his daughter understand that love isn't limited to the bloodline...it is the blood of Christ that instills that kind of love in us.

Blessings,
Mary
