Baggage

Most of us have baggage and it is very heavy. We often trick ourselves into believing we have "checked it" at the feet of Jesus. However, quite often we quickly grab it back and continue to trek the mountains of life with it on our back. The load of unnecessary baggage is in our way. When we carry unnecessary baggage it prevents us from being healthy, productive vessels.

Today is a new day. Let's shed the unnecessary baggage of our past by "leaving it" with Jesus and step toward the light of the future.

"Cast your anxiety upon HIM, because HE cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

Leaving the burdens behind,

Andrea

Good morning, Andrea~

How beautiful it is that we can leave all our baggage at the feet of Jesus, never to be claimed again. Now only if others will leave our past baggage alone and let it be!

Blessings~

Definitely great advice. Jesus is truly our healer and he is able to take our baggage, our anxiety and give us true lasting peace. Amen to that!

Letting go. That's the hard part, isn't it, Andrea? I hope you have a great day.

Very wise words indeed! Letting go of our baggage without picking it back up again - that is EXTREMELY hard to do at times!
Great post!

That is my most favorite verse and yet I still try to carry it on my own sometimes. Thanks for the reminder to lay it down at His feet and leave it there.

Thanks for this reminder; it is so easy to give my baggage to Jesus, but then later pick it up again. I'm grateful that He does invite me to give it all to Him

Amen my sweet friend....tis sooo true! We lay it down, pick it up because we in our minds don't feel it is being taken care of quickly enough or the way we think it should....Let us ALWAYS remember that Gods ways are not our ways and HIS thoughts are higher than ours and to trust HIM .....HE knows best!

Truly amazing reminder-because sometimes we don't notice that heavy shoulder bag (or 50lb suitcase) is still with us.

Must lay it down!

Amen! Thank God we are new creatures in Christ Jesus. Blessings ~

Great post, Andrea...this is certainly an area we all seem to struggle with, isn't it? My granddaughter gave me a little plaque that is my daily reminder...it is 1 Peter 5:7 in a modern version, "Let the Lord have all your worries & cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you."

Have a wonderful day...God bless!

Mary

Amen...such a simple truth that makes a world of difference in our lives...if we obey...thanks for the reminder....

What a blessing that we don't have to carry it all ourselves...that Jesus takes it with joy and we can leave it with Him. The trick is remembering to leave it there. Thank you for the reminder!

How very true Andrea! Our fleshly baggage comes in all kinds of disguises!! Thank you for the reminder to check it at God's door daily. One of my favorite quotes from Corrie Ten Boon is:
"Don't wrestle, just nestle."

Thank you so much Andrea for your sweet comment on my blog and for becoming a follower. I am so happy to meet you and will look forward to getting to know you better.

So true! Just when I think I've unloaded one piece-another one shows up. At least I think I recognize it and don't cling to each piece as it appears. Thanks for the reminder.

Andrea,

This is so true that even as we walk in and out of different stages of our life, we fail to check our luggage in at the front desk with Jesus. We need to leave it there and not bother to pick it back up again.

Wow Andrea, your words sound a lot like all I shared during the 7 day lay it down. Amen and Praise the Lord for His faithfulness to minister to our hearts as HE does.

Thanks for your comment on my other blog earlier. Thank GOD for the precious Grand parents He allowed both of us to have for the time frame we each were able to have them. Praise the Lord we will see them again.

Excellent reminder. We pick up the baggage again, I think, because we don't trust God completely, or because we love the junk in our life more than we do Him.

He is sufficient!

Andrea...this is what I've been dealing with the past 2 days! Unnecessary baggage!

And I am just nuts enough sometimes to think "I won't bother Him with this..." Right. How silly is that!

I so appreciate your words here today!

Amen! Lord help us to see when we reach for that one little thing to add back into our bag. All those little things sure get heavy! Remind us not to touch it!!
He will do it...Nothing is too hard for the Lord!

There was a reason that Jesus told us to lay it down . Our tendancy is to say to Him "Its OK I can do it" and we limp along under our heavy loads ...thank you for the reminder
