Danger

"Let a man meet a bear robbed of her cubs, rather than a fool in his folly." Proverbs 17:12

A mother bear whose cubs have been taken is very dangerous. She will do anything to protect them and get them back.

In this verse, meeting a fool is worse than meeting a mother bear whose cubs have been taken. We meet people like this ever day, but I am not sure we take their actions seriously. Do we recognize the danger around us?

Pondering,

Andrea

Your question just exposed the truth that there is that kind of danger from those people around us. I just have to deal with one yesterday at work and it nearly cost her her life. But her foolish actions saddened me because she didn't listen to my advice. If something happened, that would have affected me big time! She thought she would get away with her foolish actions but she didn't know, it affected me so much. And that was the danger on my part. It depleted me of my strength.

Have a great week sister. Praying here that God will always give us the discernment and guide us with His wisdom for wisdom here in this world is just foolishness to God. God bless. Love you in Christ.

I love this passage. I've lived in grizzly bear country and know from living there what a griz (or even a black bear) is like when her cubs are threatened. And, yes, there are people whose foolish behavior is just as dangerous. Think of all the harm caused by envious people (like Cain in the Bible). Proverbs is so amazing about condensing great, complex truths into simple statements). wb

I know that I don't think much of the danger around me, but like you, I do rely on My Protector.

I think I live in bear country. Never realized the true danger lurking outside my door.

Andrea,

Great post and one for all of us to be cautioned about. Too often we can find ourselves completely sucked in by these people and thus the need to maintain our spiritual armor at all times.

Great thought! I have not really thought about before. I tend to not really pay attention to the real dangers....unless it knocks me upside the head. Sometimes then it is to late.

Thanks for being so faithful to commenting on my blog. I have not been in blog land lately and I am trying to get back into the habit of reading, commenting and posting again. I have missed it so much.
Blessings,
Darlene

That's a verse I've read before but never really fully took it in. Very interesting.
Thanks for your comment on my "Labor" Day post. You really labored for all of yours!

I was thinking: An angry mother giving chase in a car or a drunkard fool in a car. Now which is more dangerous?

God Bless.

Thought provoking post! I think a lot of the time we are unaware of our surroundings, until it is too late. Blessings.

This is a thought worth pondering on indeed.

Daily we need to ask God to put His hedge of protection around us. A fool is the enemy's emissary to lead us astray, cause us to sin... tempt us to choose the path that leads to destruction.

It is a very timely reminder for me, Andrea.

Blessings and love

Well, looking at the world around us, it seems there sure are a lot of fools nowdays.

Caution!!! May God keep His loving hand of protection around us at all times.

I was just talking to a friend recently about destructive friendships. Sometimes teens get into friendships hoping to bring them "up" but they usually wind up being dragged down instead.

She was talking about limiting one of her daughter's friendships with a gal who was doing foolish things.

This verse just shows the danger in those friendships! Thanks for sharing.

Funny enough, I relate more to the mother bear than to the foolish people part. Even though my children are adults now, my mother bear instincts are still hiding there under the surface. I sincerely hope and believe that I'm not dangerous.
By the way, my "cub" got married Sun. Now I can pray and cheer you on for your big day.

Dearest Andrea,

I'm popping my head in to say how much I love you sweet sister and thank you for your prayers and support. You are absolutely the best.

I'm like the mother bear in the sense that I've always tried to protect my children from the worst in life, but their faith, love and trust must be in Him first to get them through life with true fulfillment and with His protection about them first.

Love, Blessings & Hugs My Friend,
Alleluiabelle

Hi sis,
Great proverb and picture. I can't help wondering when I have been that fool(not listening to God!) I am glad that God saves me from my own folly! I love the song on the blog!
