Overcoming Depression

"Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again- my Savior and my God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you- even from distant Mount Hermon, the source of the Jordan, from the land of Mount Mizar." Psalm 42:5-6

Depression is a raging problem in our world and seems to worsen as the crisis of life's storms beat and batter many of us. I found myself relieved to find the gloomy problem is not new. The Psalmist suffered deeply, yet he found his hope in God.

"I will put my hope in God!" The psalmist chose to put his hope in God, knowing his LORD was the only answer to his deepest need. I, too have shared the psalmist crisis and praise God I share his solution.

Focus on the hope only God can provide! Listed below you will find helps for journeying through the depression battle:

1)Keep a journal of God's blessings in your life and the lives of those you love.

2)Praise God for each blessing!

3)Spend time in prayer, surrendering those things you can not change!

4)Spend time in God's word!

5)Leave those things you can not change at the foot of Jesus!

6)Most importantly, DO NOT allow satan to rob you of God's perfect peace. Keep your focus firmly planted on your Heavenly Father.

Praising GOD for victory over depression,

Andrea

These are sure fire ways to overcome feeling mopey. Is it possible to be down and be thankful at the same time? I'm thinking, too, of the faith it takes to praise and sing when your world feels like its crashing.

Have a nice weekend,
Mary

Excellent post. In the past I have suffered from depression. It's a tough thing to get through and it kind of creeps up on you out of nowhere it seems, but looking directly in the face of our Almighty Father and hanging on to His every Word, trusting and believing in Him for everything, that got me through it. To be in constant company of the Lord, giving it all to Him at all times, that is the way for me now. His direct pathway to living a true fulfilling life through Him always.

Thank you Andrea. This was great.

Hugs & Prayers,
Alleluiabelle

God is the ultimate remedy to find happiness. Thank you very much.. I always felt like I am up to no use. I can’t do any thing big, new or great. Comparatively I am not that creative also. These are the things I used to think and feel about my self. But that’s not true at all. I am much better than lots of people. I realized that I am pretty much talented and intellectual. Thanks to GOD and to beat depression program for helping me.
