Answered Prayer

Even our smallest needs and things others do not deem critical are important to GOD. Many of you know, my Samoyed Nanuq is extremely afraid of thunderstorms. We have tried everything and he is better, but each storm is still a traumatic experience.

Yesterday, I posted on facebook about a storm headed our way. This storm was producing 1 inch size hail, tornado's, 60 mph winds, and lots of rain. Upon reading my post, many offered prayers. This is how our evening went:

The storm approached with a vengeance. Everyone in its path receiving what had been predicted until it came close to our home. As the storm crossed chesterfield county the thunder and lightening diminished. We heard only one small rumble. We received lots of rain and wind, but NO SOUNDS! Nanuq slept through the entire storm! PRAISE GOD!

If anyone asks you today about the power of prayer and it's significance, tell them GOD cares about his animals enough to calm the storms in Chester, Virginia. He tells us to come to HIM with the desires of our heart. If HE cares about me and my dog, then HE most certainly cares about the details in your life, too!

Continuing to storm the heavens,

Andrea

Sweet Andrea~

PRAISE THE LORD! God DOES answer prayer! We didn't get anything here other than rain and a lot of wind, but nothing damaging, thank goodness.

I had just finished cleaning up a little bit out in the strawberry bed and planting lettuce just before the rain. I just LOVE IT when God waters my garden for me!

Thank you, Father, for hearing our prayers!

Blessings~

That is awesome Andrea! Our dog Dodger used to be the same way. He would freak out so bad. He would even scratch on the walls and doors until he ruined them. We tried comforting him, we tried pills from the vet, which worked but made him act out of it for a couple of days after also, so we quit using those. Eventually we made him his own little room down in our basement where he had to go when storms would come. It sometimes seemed to help him not be so aware of the storm unless it was really strong and then he just had to endure it on his own. It was sometimes very sad. He did not act that way at all until he was about 8 years old. But his last five years was just miserable for him when storms would come. That is just so awesome that God answered your prayer for Nanuq. I know how blessed that must make you feel. :)

That's awesome, Andrea. I don't know why we always assume God isn't interested in the "smaller things." He proves time and time again that He's involved in ever part of our life. :)

What an awesome reminder that God hears and answers our prayers. He is a shelter in the time of storms--literally and symbolically!

I was really envious to hear that you have met Phyllis Theroux in person. I'd actually never heard of her. I just grabbed her book in the library because the title fascinated me since I'm an avid journal keeper.....

He is AWESOME! I always have to remind myself that God does care about our wants as well as our needs. I'm trying to get over feeling guilty for praying or asking for prayer for something that I want.

I'm so thankful Nanuq was spared from the thunder (and that y'all were kept safe)!

Love you! Leslie

Loving that God takes heart in the simplest of prayers even for our pets. Nothing is too small or too great for Him.

My youngest son does NOT like storms at all. It's not as bad now that he is older (13) but when he was younger it was awful.
We had a tornado warning once when he was much younger. He was terrified. He and I prayed but he was still afraid. We had about 30 minutes before the storm was due in our area. He and I took shelter in a hallway with blankets and pillows. Then he wanted to pack a bag...so we did a quick pack with flashlights, snacks, a game, a radio etc. We set up a "fort" in the hall. He actually had so much fun getting ready that he wasn't even afraid. After we got everything together and sat down, we said another big prayer. That tornado went by about a mile away and there was no damage anywhere in the county. After a BIG thank you prayer, my son and I played in the fort.

It was so obvious that putting it in God's hands helped to relieve his fear. He was still worried but the terror seemed to go away.

BTW, I am house-sitting in Chester this weekend and am really glad the storm has passed. It's a lot cooler today too.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for visiting my blog.

Hi there Andrea
A wonderful story!
Just another suggestion...have you tried wrapping him in firmish bandages when he's anxious? They sometimes use this technique in T Touch therapy ...it gives them an added sense of security. (It worked quite well when Toffee was small)

You know, there have been many prayers cried out to God on behalf of our beloved pets over the years. There are very few things more powerful to little children than to witness miraculous answer to prayer for a special pet, and even to we adults. God is an awesome God, Praises to Him!
